Still unsure whether to publicize work. May just explain what I’m changing, which I’m sure most people could figure out without too much effort. May do neither. We’ll see.
For the tl:dr people, is this changing direct stream to allow 60 FPS? Or transcoding to h.264/60? Is it a script? Thanks! I’ve always wondered why plex did it this way when Channels Live works great at de-interlacint with 1080i/60 content on Android.
I’d still like to see this happen, as an option
Same here!
(I haven’t had the time to do significant work on this in a while, but will try to get back to it)
Awesome, thanks!
I haven’t had the chance again. In the meantime though I have put an NVIDIA card in my rig for transcoding. It also isn’t set to deinterlace to fullrate, but its ffmpeg command line isn’t terribly different from that of the software encoder—unlike Intel’s iGPU, which seems like doesn’t let the video be preprocessed at all before being passed to it for encoding. That’s kinda great news, IMO, but it’s extra silly that yadif is told to throw away half the frames even with a fast hardware encoder like an NVIDIA GPU.
Interesting
