Livetv cpu usage

hi, i had a qnap ts-653b that decided to abandon me. now i try to install plex on a e5300 and in a raspberry 3b+ to use only with livetv (HDHOMERUN) but i think that the cpu is not enough… do you think that a raspberry 4 is ok?
thanks

I’ve helped a couple people to get Live TV & DVR working on a Pi 4 with 4GB of memory, HDHR, and using either an external USB hard drive or NAS for media storage. It has worked for them, but obviously none of your Plex clients can ever transcode: everything has to be direct play or direct stream. You would be committing to a Plex life where an accidental transcode session pegs your CPU, so plan to invest time and research to address that. Some Plex clients simply can’t stream Live TV & DVR without transcoding. I’ve been very successful with Rokus and the installed Plex for Win client not transcoding.

I’ve not seen it done on a 3B+, so I can’t provide insight one way or another there.

Edit: I realized I don’t know where you are and what your Live TV broadcasts. My experience was in the US with Live TV broadcasts using MPEG2 compression in a mpegts container (e.g. .ts filetype if you record).
