I’m new to Plex and still hunting for things. I’m using my HDTV as a second display on my Mac. Does Plex Media Player or the Web app work in full screen mode on a single display without blacking out the other displays?

You could use either, but I recommend the full Plex Media Player. It supports much more codecs for direct play than a web browser.
It won’t black out the other displays.
If that were the case I wouldn’t have started this topic. Currently when I enter Full Screen Mode in either Plex Media Player or the Web app my other display blacks out.
This must be a feature of MacOS then, not of Plex.
It doesn’t do that on Windows or Linux.
fwiw, I have PMP open on my second monitor on my iMac and it does not black out my main screen when full screen on the second monitor.
What are your mission control settings?

Turns out to be an El Capitan bug. I turned my Mission Control off, logged out, logged in, turned Mission Controls back on. Logged out, then in again and it’s all good.
