Media file hash?

Does Plex create/store a media file hash in the database or elsewhere?

I recently lost a HDD, and whilst I have been able to recover a lot of files some now have playback issues. I’d like to be able to sanity check the files without having to play 8TB of video to check for errors, but did not have hashes from before this happened.

When plex is analysing the media files does it create and store a hash of the files anywhere?

Plex does create only a “bogo-hash”, which only uses a portion of the file. So that cannot be used to check a whole movie.

I once found a script here in the forums which uses ffmpeg for that. I just have to find the thread again…

I think it was this one:

But it still may not find all issues.
