Media keys not making it into HTPC

Player Version#: 1.26.1

I’m trying to get my new Riitek i25 remote up and running with HTPC. All the keys work fine, except for media controls (play/pause, skip forward, back, etc). The media keys work in every other app I have installed on Linux Mint 20, but when searching the HTPC log file for the correct inputs, I simply don’t see anything related to the media controls.

In keyboard.json I see the line: // Media keys (when not caught by an OS service)

Is it possible Linux Mint is hijacking the media keys or something? Anyone know whats going on?

the internet thinks Chrome or banshee or some audio app can hold control of the keys.

I’m curious what your custom json file looks like.

I haven’t created my own json yet, as I couldn’t find the inputs to create it with.

Upon further investigation, it’s not “working in all other apps”. It’s kinda sorta working in other apps. i’ll redirect my question to the mint forums.
