Migrate Plex AppData from C: to another drive

I was curious if it is possible to move the Plex AppData from the C: drive to another drive? I would like all of my metadata off of my SSD as it is running out of space.

Thanks in advance!

You could use a symlink to move your appdata to another disk and plex wouldn’t know the difference.

A symlink basically redirects traffic to the right location transparently to most apps.

See https://www.google.com.au/search?q=create+symlink+windows&rlz=1C1GCEB_enAU820AU820&oq=create+symlink+wi&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.5602j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

TBH you can probably even find a gui tool to make it for you rather than having to use the CLI.

Good luck.

Settings>general (show advanced)

  1. change The Path where local application data is stored to where ever you plan to move it to (do not include the “Plex Media Server” folder in path)
  2. save settings
  3. Quit/Exit PMS so it is not running
  4. move the PMS folder to wherever you said it was in step 1
  5. start server
