Missing shows

Server Version#:1.18.3.2156

Player Version#:

In the blink of an eye I’m missing more than 30 shows. The files are still on the drives but no longer seen in Plex. I am running unraid so it is possible that I have database corruption. Is it salvageable or should I rebuild the whole database from scratch?

Do you have database backups enabled? https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

Ok so there seems to be 5 backups in the directory. I restored to the oldest one and the shows are back. Is there anyway to verify that this database is corruption free? I and running docker Plex on Unraid. Thanks

Ok after I scanned the library I lost all the shows again.

make sure there was not some change in the library settings like the folder path got removed.

I don’t really know Docker or Unraid myself. Here is some info on a ways to check for corruption https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/

I am not quite sure how to get SQLite on unraid. Is it possible that I can copy the db file to my windows machine and do it or does it have to be in its proper directory with regards to the rest of the files?

afaik it does not matter. just copy it to your windows machine. ( just save an extra copy of it somewhere just in case)

Ok so I ran the commands to repair. As soon as I scan the library files I lost a whole bunch of shows. The second command on repair database doesn’t work but the rest run through no problem. All my shows are in one user share directory and the shows that are missing seem to be random. Anything else I can try before I have to start over. Is there any way to save users or watched history if I have to start over?

Sounds less like database corruption but an issue with your Plex not seeing those files (e.g. due to permission issues or more likely how you make that folder available to the container).

Try this:

  1. restore from backup again
  2. uncheck Settings > Server > Library > Empty trash after scan
  3. scan the library
  4. check if the items are flagged with a little trash can (indicating the underlying file is no longer visible/available)

If that’s the case you can look into how you’ve linked those folders (e.g. for differences compared to the other folders)

Ok so I did as you instructed and I did get the red trash cans. The weird thing is I can actually play the files that go missing before the scan. There is only one directory for Tv Shows for my plex. The directory is /mnt/user/TV Shows which is User share that spans all my disks. The other weird part is all the files are visible and usable and are not all on the same disk. All the shows whether they disappeared or not are at /mnt/user/TV Shows. It seems to be always the same shows that disappear. Anything else I can try.

So I rebooted the server. Restored my database and ran a scan and all of my shows remained after the scan. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

So it is working now? or do you mean they have the trashcans on them
