There’s already a bunch of suggestions addressing this from different angles. I suggest you comment/vote in those in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if there was a way to manually select a different resolution/bitrate combo than the ones offered by default. My ISP’s upload speed is about 5mbps (no choice to go higher i’m afraid…), so when I watch something remotely, 1080p 8Mbps buffers way too often, and unfortunately the next option down from there is only 720p 4mbps. This is a pretty huge drop in quality when watching it on an Apple TV as you can imagine.
Is there any way I can select my own bitrate/resolut…
Hi! In most cases if not in every case direkt playback fails(prevent) because of incompatible audio and subtitle sources.
nearly every playback device can handle x264 and more and more can handle x265.
it would be FANTASITC if the optimizer would become a option to keep video source and options to encode audio to AAC and subs to srt.
is this possible?
thx
We should be able to choose the codec, such as HEVC or vl9 or whatever, when choosing to optimise versions.
We should also be able to choose the destination container, like MKV or MP4.
The optimize versions settings are a little hard to understand.
Can the plex team please add profiles to the optimize settings drop list for a bunch of known players?
e.g. PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox one, Roku, Rasberry Pi2, Pi3, etc…
The user can still choose the bandwidth to suit their network, and the devs can limit to the max the device can handle.
I would have thought the devs know what formats these devices require the video to be in to allow direct playing without any further transcoding…
I’m creating optimized versions for some of my videos. In the optimization settings, I select “Custom” and a quality, e.g. “2 Mbps 720p”. Plex lets me specify a name for that custom quality. However, I don’t get the meaning of this. The custom name cannot be reused, which makes it pretty useless.
My wish is to have either one of the following options:
Set a default quality for an optimization profile (e.g. “Optimized for Mobile”)
Alternatively, offer a possibility to add new profiles that can…
