Movie title sort always descending order (Z to A)

Hello!

I apologize if this post was placed incorrectly in this forum. Please let me know where it should go if I made a mistake.

I use the Plex app on my FireSticks (both 4K and regular). If I sort my movie list by say year, I get the 1900s at the top, and the 2022’s at the bottom. Perfect. Now if I go back to sort by title it ALWAYS sorts descending order (Z to A). It’s not until I tell Plex to sort the titles again that it will sort A-Z. If I sort by say date added, and go back to sorting by Title, it does it again! I feel like sorting by title should default to A-Z order.

Does anyone else have this issue? Should I upload a video somewhere to demonstrate it?

Thank you so much!

-Johnny

It’s by design that repeating the ‘Sort by Title’ will reverse direction. That’s true of any of them, so you could repeat ‘Sort by Year’ repeatedly and see the same thing happen.

The problem is that it always starts with Z - A, when people usually expect A - Z.

The Android-TV app does the same thing. I’m sure I reported this quite a while ago, but I can’t find it now.

Thank you for confirming this for me!

I agree that it is “by design” (only that it is not a bug). However, this only means that it’s been set this way for years through several releases. Virtually every list of this type on the planet would be sorted alphabetically (A to Z) before it’s reverse would be desired, so it’s hard to think this “design” is intential.

I’m no programmer, but I’d like to think this could be an easy fix to sort it correctly.
