Movies similar to Netflix

Hi Guys and Gals,

I was talking to a friend the other day and she informed me that Plex is similar to Netflix, being able to stream movies but the movies are more up-to-date, I have searched everywhere and I cannot find this feature, I even joined and became a Plex Pass subscriber thinking that this might be a premium only feature but I am still unable to find this.

No, your friend is mistaken.
Plex is for your own media.
You may find something in channels to play recent movies, but I don’t think so.
Look in channels and see if any of those kind of do what you want.

Is Plex like Netflix?

Unlike Netflix, Plex does not provide streaming movie and TV content to you. With Plex, you can:

  • add your own media to your Plex Media Server
  • access that media using multiple Plex apps (mobile apps, connected streaming devices, Smart TVs, game consoles, web browsers, and more)
  • stream that media wherever you are by connecting to that Plex Media Server even if you’re not home
  • “bookmark” online videos from sites such as Youtube or Vimeo so that you can access them through your Watch Later queue in your apps
  • install Channels on your Plex Media Server that let you stream available content from websites such as Apple Movie Trailers, Revision3, TED Talks, and more

Thanks peeps, I didn’t think so, the only thing that I can think of is that she has access to someone else’s media collection, she even said that Plex is the same price as Netflix, which in the UK, it isn’t (Plex=£2.99 pcm and Netflix=£7.49 pcm). Think she must be tripping or eating some funky shizzle.

@macrocosm.nomad - Or, someone is charging her to access Plex. This is rampant on Reddit and is usually using someone’s library without their knowledge/permission.
