Moving plex library to a new drive without losing watched and metadata info

I have read all the posts regarding moving my library to a new drive. but it is not clear EXACTLY what I need to do so that my media doesn’t spend a whole day re-scanning and ruining all my hard work with my manual edits for the metadata. The directories are the exact same, the drive letter is different, but I could disconnect the old drive and assign the new drive the same letter. I have a 12TB that’s virtually full and my plex server folder is about 23 GB. Do I need to copy and replace all those folders? Why the hell can’t I just point it to the new directory…ughhhh…Can someone please provide a dummy-proof step by step to get my existing metadata with my new drive? I only got one shot on this.

I will be doing the same thing to my other drive shortly, but that is not the same drive structure. Will the same occur for the movie drive too? The new drive structure will have to be different.

If that is the case, and you are actually staying on the same computer, you don’t need to do anything, except freeing up the old drive letter and assigning it to the new drive.
Do this wile Plex server is shut down!

Thank you very much, how about my other drive that will have same content, but slightly different directories. Same computer also.

If you are changing folder names, there is only one way: to directly edit the database.

But this way is not for everyone. So it is best not to edit folder names if you have lots of manually edited metadata.
