You did not miss anything. I think we did not understand each other properly. I was just wondering how to do that best. Excuse my english.

I have made an example that I can share here in public.

It is the LG Test Video “LG Earth Dolby Vision UHD 4K demo.ts” + six “synthetic” Chapters

I just added the chapters with mp4box. Command:

mp4box.exe -add %userprofile%\Desktop\lgtest.ts -add %userprofile%\Desktop\chapters.txt:chap -brand mp42isom -ab dby1 %userprofile%\Desktop\mp4box_out.mp4

The chapters.txt (286 Bytes) looks like this:

@sixones Another question in the context. How long does the Plex server take to create the thumbnails? Are there any clues? My server has only one i5 4440 and can not play hevc nativ. Is that why it takes so long?

Thanks for the sample and how you created it, will get this looked into!

Hmm the thumbnails should only take a few minutes to generate after adding the video to your server (assuming you have previews enabled on Plex Media Server). They might not be working correctly due to the previously mentioned issue of us not extracting chapters from an MP4 with Dolby Vision.

Added the sample to my server and the thumbnails for each chapter were generated after a minute or so. If it’s not working for you still would you be able to share the Plex Media Server logs.

It has to be on my old hardware. Because others do not have the problem, for example, using the shield as a server:

As I said, I have no hardware that can play HEVC with acceleration. That it is not properly supported by you, can of course be added aggravating.
