Multi CD feature

Ciao, how can I avoid Plex to show multi-cd as multi icons? I mean, I have some classical collection with 20+ cds with same artist and same composer: well plex shows them as 20+ albums! CD number and number of CDs correclty set. Another thing: does Plex manage “Composer” tag in same way?

The embedded tags for ‘disc number’ need to be populated for all tracks.
The contents of the ‘Album Artist’ and ‘Album Title’ tags must have consistent content for all tracks too.
The ‘Album Title’ tag must not have the ‘disc number’ or a ‘disc title’ in it.

If this box is listed as separate albums at musicbrainz.org, you can only override it by instructing Plex to give your embedded meta tags priority: Edit your library, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and check ‘Prefer local metadata’.

Unfortunately not.

Thanks. I think I did everything you said. Album Title is the same for all CDs with no CD number on it, CD number has been set (something like 1/20, 2/20, etc.). The only difference is that I left empty the tag Album Artist while I filled Artist tag.

Populate it, it’s crucial with Plex.
Use ‘Various Artists’ if this is a compilation album.

Ah! Got it! I’ll try!

Another thing, in case of different Artists, I set “1” in the “Compilation” tag, and different “Artist” for any Track. You said I should put “Various Artists” in the “Album Artist” tag for a specific reason?

Many many thanks!

Plex doesn’t use the compilation flag. That’s an iTunes thing.

All the tracks in this compilation must use an identical ‘Album Artist’ or you’ll get several albums instead of one.

Fantastic! It worked! I only have to change all “Album Artist” tag now… :scream:

Many thanks! Ciao

Tip: mp3tag
can even determine the right album artist from the folder structure, if you have it curated correctly.
But even bluntly “selecting” several hundred files at once and setting their Album Artist at once is an option.

Thanks!!
