can you also add the data for the episode dureration? of isnt this possible because of the api?
edit: nevermind i see that its is not possible
the unofficial MAL Api does, unfortunately, not return the duration of the Episode. So there is no way, for me actually, to get the information.
Just a quick question:
Does anyone of you using it getting problems with the new Naruto Shippuuden episodes? seems that they don't get any metadata. I recognised this behaviour with episode 323 and 324 so far that they doesn't get into the Naruto Shippuuden Show Folder. And they seem to have trouble getting any metadata ...
I was just testing Plex today (So I'm really new to it, and I must say, for now I'm a really big fan, I've been using TVMobili, PS3MediaServer, RPI with RaspBMC, etc).
Quick question, I've noticed that some (all) of my Anime has the wrong information connected to it. I've done some research and found out about this plugin. The plugin describes an installation process under Windows.
However, I'm running the server on Linux. I've been searching on the internet and I found out that I have a folder (more or less) a like to what you describe (/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/). I've unpacked it and restarted my server, however, no luck with that. I don't see the MAL in the Agent settings etc.
Should this plugin also work for Linux/Mac or is it really Windows only?
[Edit]
After doing some research, I've noticed that the plugin was written in python, so it should work for sure under Linux. I've done some more troubleshooting and I've seen that the plugin starts now, however, my interface isn't showing it.
[Edit-2]
Fixed it, forgot to change the folder's rights. ^--^
How does this plugin handle OVAs? Should I name and organize them similar to "specials" for theTVDB agent, or is there a special organizational method to use?
I made separate folders, for example for Black Rock Shooter (TV) and (OVA) at the same level in the folder tree, but for some reason not only are the OVAs/Specials getting matched, they're not showing up in the library at all? I can only see them under Folder View.
yeah if MAL is offline so is the inofficial API and therefore the Agent can't get any results.
The Problem with the OVA's is because of the Scanner. in your case you got the folder Black Rock Shooter (OVA) on your HDD but the Scanner will scan and save it as Black Rock Shooter (Ova) and that is why there won't be any results. I even replaced it in the search algorithm but it doesn't work. Sorry about that

Since MAL has a seperate entry for every Special or OVA or something like that for their own you just need to create a new folder for it.
If you need a tool to help you organize your Animes on HDD level there is a program called Taiga and MAL Updater. I use Taiga and its quite easy ... every entry is a seperate folder which you can update and keep track of how many episodes you have seen.
i found a problem with the Summary of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Movie: Lagann-hen, it downloaded the html code instead of the text. i think this has todo with spoilerbutton in the Summary. i dont know if this is a bug with api of in the agent.

can't test it right now because the Api got an 502 Error but it is probably the spoiler button.
I set it as my meta agent for my Anime section, but its not pulling down metadata for any of my anime shows.
I put under my user data's plugin folder, i see it in the list when i edit my section and I can select myanimelist.net. I'm not sure how to configure the plugin, I didn't see it under "Installed Plugins" in the plex web interface. Any reason why this isn't working?

If you are using Plex on Windows just right-click on the Plex icon in your Task bar and and select "Open Plugins Folder" there you must copy the MALAgent
Any idea where I would put this for FreeNAS/FreeBSD? I tried the .plugins folder but that didn't seem to work.
I'm Sorry I don't know how the folders are organized on FreeNAS but I suggest you look through the Plex Wiki, I'm pretty sure there is a solution to find and copy Metadata Agents.
Sorry folks for the inaktivity but unless I've got this thread open somewhere in my firefox I forget to check on any news from you.
So I just sat down to implement the requested Movie section into MALAgent which shouldn't be that problamatic. But since MyAnimeList.net got some DDoS Attacks lately they blocked any request to their API and they are implementing a unique identifier for every APP that does requests (thats was almost a week ago). Now I added a new Anime to my Database and it didn't got filled with Metadata and the Unofficial API request returns empty, so I think the problem is not yet solved. so be patient to get the 2.4 release with Movie support.
the first link is the Unofficial API which is currently not accessible for whatever reason. and the second link is the official API by MAL themself with basic authentication but since their data response while doing a request to for a specific query is pretty low on information.
The unofficial API returns a much larger information pool (and its easier to work with).
I'm not available in the next 2-3 weeks so I hope I can work on it in my holidays around christmas and new year to get this thing running again.... stay tuned
