Hi all,
I currently have two HDD’s(general use ones) that are slowly falling. I’m looking to get rid of them and replace with the following setup: (PC to router is AC wireless) (NAS to router will be Gigabit Ethernet)
PC (3930K OC @4.2 GHz, 16GB of RAM)

Router ---- NAS (Two WD Red 4TB 5900RPM Drives) - Raid 1
I still want to run Plex Media Server on the PC but have the storage location be the network drive NAS.
I was just wondering what are the implications of using it this way vs locally stored in terms of press play in plex and playing? if used this way will the pc DL the file locally and then transcode if necessary or does the transcode happen on the NAS?
I am deciding on whether to buy a NAS unit and have it set up like above or have the drives stored locally inside my pc case (Coolermaster Haf X)
Thanks in advanced Josh
