Netflix via US DNS not working

Hi all

 

Have been combing the forums looking for an answer but nothing I have found has worked for me so far, and many of the responses to others queries were to start a new post and to provide appropriate information to allow the mods to help. So here I am. Basically, when I set up my system to use either my DNS or the google DNS everything works fine however I only have access to the Australian Netflix catalog. When I add the Unblock Us DNS to the settings config as per below Netflix does not load at all.

 

I am running a VPN on my PMS machine, and I presume that is where the issues are coming from. I am using SlykVPN to connect to a VPN outside of Australia (for obvious reasons to anyone from Australia, or following Australian news lately). This VPN currently gives my machine a local IP of 10.1.0.14, and a DNS of 10.1.0.1 - this changes every hour but is always an address outside of Australia.

 
  • ATV3
  • DNS on ATV = 192.168.1.20 (IP of machine running PMS)
  • Main PC running Windows 7 SP1 (device is running as my tor box and never turns itself off overnight etc)
  • PMS v 2.3.24
  • local IP of PMS machine = 192.168.1.20
  • PlexConnect synced via GitHub lastnight (21.04.15 at ~10pm)

I have tried toggling enable_plexgdm and enable_plexconnect_autodetect but for some reason the set up works much better when they are off. Also I turned off the prevent_atv_update to see if I could get rid of netflix update nag message. But it always fails to update...

Here is my log with everything working, however with access to only the Australian Netflix (no DNS spoofing).
 

 

Am I doing something wrong, or is it simply not possible to connect to the US netflix catalog, whilst also using plex connect and having a VPN set up on my main machine for privacy?

EDIT: Also, do I need to update my location to United States within the atv to access the US netflix catalog?

 

EDIT2: It looks like UnBlockUS is the issue - just tried a DNS from tvunblock and it work fine with current set up (tested with PMS machine VPN on and off). Mods feel free to delete this whole topic...
