I too have had the exact same issue and pixelation with recordings as shown above by @Desmodo. It’s unrelated to the live TV release as I saw it with one of the early Plex DVR beta builds. At the time I didn’t make the connection that it was related to this file remuxing by Plex. However it was after I turned off the remuxing in the old version that it was fixed. As of 1.7.0 this remuxing is unable to be turned off causing the issues to return. It’s not all my recordings just some of them enough to be really annoying, it happens most often on my recordings of The Late Show OTA. I downgraded to 1.6.1 as well which seems to have resolved the issues for now until the Plex team can squash this bug.
@Imolter Under settings for your Plex DVR under 1.6 .1 is it set to remux or leave do nothing and leave as .ts?
I only saw it with H.264 channel recordings, not MPEG2. If I turn on the experimantal remuxing in v1.6.1 I get the issues, with no remuxing and just the straight H.264 transport stream my HDHR Prime delivers then no issues.
Ok. We’re getting used to the HDHomerun DVR for the French Open this weekend, but I’ll try the downgrade one more time and I’ll heed all the suggestions. I’ll post back with results a little later…
I’m sure they know this, but choose not to tell us, as we’re only their paying customers keeping them alive and they know better as they’re setting the direction for the company and have no interest in our opinions, we’re only a cash-cow. This would appear to be an issue with the version of ffmpeg the Pleax team is currently using and they should look into it. I’m so tired of the state of affairs with Plex and their lack of leadership and response to their customers that feed them that I’m about to…
tell them what I actually think of them.
I see this also in the remux and reencode…reverting to 1.6.1 and going to .ts fixed all my issues

No need to act like this…you are hopefully better than that
I don’t see these options. Under my DVR settings there’s only the delayed start/extended end of recording and enhanced program guide. I have the HDHR Extend, so transcoding to H.264 is done automatically?

Ahh, yeah I should have mentioned that I have the HD Home Run Connect which had the option to leave as .ts the older version of Plex in 1.6.1.
However the setting to change between transcode/remux or not under 1.6.1 is not in the same location listed as DVR settings in Plex where you change the start and end of recordings so perhaps there is still something there. It is located under the settings listed next to the name of the DVR. I have attached a couple photos with of the location for this setting.

Anyone tried the 1.7.4 version that they have released to see if this is fixed yet?
Haven’t heard anything yet if it is fixed
Wonder if its time to rebuild windows
Rebuilding your Windows … not for me. Have been on the beta from day 1, tried several times, EPG issues in Australia, now can’t even record. About another 6 months until usable I’m guessing. Until significantly more development and TESTING … not an option. My good old reliable Free-to-air solution works great … it has UTILITY !
I just wanted to post that upgrading to PMS v1.7.6 fixed the issue for me. Back to .ts file recordings without glitches. Yay!
Can someone send me to 1.6.1 download link for Ubuntu? I am having some similar issues and need to downgrade and apparently skipped the entire 1.6.x version.
I have posted instructions on other threads on the forum showing how to get to prior versions on Plex website. Most recently about an Ubuntu download going back to 1.7.3.
Removed for codec licensing restrictions.
