So the new sony/android tv app update is buggy as ■■■■. Im sure everyone is aware by now. It looks pretty but isnt running very well. The things ive noticed that bug me the most:
- When you first boot up the app, it is counter intuitive as to what row it goes to, it displays the top row but somehow pops to a different one when u go to it. Also rows dont display properly sometimes, laying on top of each other.
- There is crazy delay when pressing play on media. Up to ten seconds, sometimes more, which doesn’t seem like much, but before the update it was close to zero seconds.
- When skipping back ten seconds or so, its also slow as. Almost as if its doing it in real time, ie skipping back ten seconds can take up to ten seconds. Very off putting if you want to skip back if u miss something.
- Also music doesn’t play in background. If music is playing, pressing back to browse other media stops the music, which is dumb.
- Not a straight forward way to play the next episode after you finish one in a series anymore.
Theres more issues im sure, but Over all its incredibly slower than whats supposed to be an older app version. Aren’t updates supposed to improve, not make worse. I love plex, and hope a fix is on the way. I realise you’ve added a bunch of new features. But to be honest has someone who runs a server, these extra features are not necessary on a tv app when it is primarily used for viewing. If adding these sacrifices the quality of playing media, doesn’t that defeat the point. Please update again with fixes to these issues and more as soon as possible.
