New skin for web server proposal

Hey guys,

This looks promising - good work so far!

I’ve been messing around with the http api for a little while. My plan is to make a webinterface you could use remotely to stream your plex contents to. I.e. listen to your music, watch movies etc… anywhere with in your browser.

And then I stumbled over this thread…

Looks to me like what you are doing is ‘just’ a remote to control for plex…correct me if I am wrong…? Any plans to include streaming to clients? Kinda like what plex and klexi iphone app does.

A question: Does anyone know what kinda webserver plex server runs? is it an apache? What capabilities does it have. ASP? JSP? PHP? I’d hate to install extra software if plex provides a good alternative ‘nativly’.

Regards,

delley

I know my development efforts ceased for a few reasons but mostly when Plex 9 was released. The intention was to revamp the xbmc branded webserver, plexing it up with ajax controls and functionality. So more than a remote, at least from me, my code is somewhere in this thread if you want to play with it.

However the included webserver is very limited and as of version 8.5 the api was well, for lack of a better term garbage.

The included webserver (the one that runs on port 3000 by default) is called Go or GoAhead something to that effect. It has very limited ASP support (non MS), some sort of python support that I could never get working and thats about it. No php or perl unfortunately. So its pretty much limited to straight html and javascript.

Hope that helps, and good luck as I would love to see this actually happen! :)

I think there are a few people working on HTML stuff outside of the :3000 webserver though.

Cool - and thanks for replying! I hope it didnt sound like I wanted to put down what you have achived so far. Honestly I havent looked into your code. Just briefly went over the screen shots…

Ugh, it’s what I feared. A very limited webserver. I guess I’ll have to go with apache/php cause asp and phyton aint my gig :stuck_out_tongue:

If I get to the point where I have anything that is closed to finished. I will definatly put it up here!

The code you have made. Is it retricted in any way? GPL…?

Cheers,

delley

Have at it, if you want. The asp code (used for making api calls) is pretty much original, most of the html/css is a rewrite. All the js code (except jquery of course) is my own but if it helps you in anyway its yours to use, modify or whatever. Apache/php would have been my choice too, but I tried to stay within the confines of what was there.

Cheers imike! Cool runnings man! Again, if I get to a point where it’s usable - I’ll post it!
