I noticed that I get no audio via Roku private listening through Bluetooth headphones and the android Roku app when playing one of my movies or TV shows through Plex. I do, however, get TV show themes playing in the episode selection screen via the headphones. Only the audio from the actual video won’t play. UNTIL…I go into another app, play a video, then go back to Plex and retry the episode/movie. After that all show and movie audio plays fine. It’s like the headphone audio needs to be initialized by another app first before Plex will use it.
Has anyone else experienced this? The work-around is pretty painless, but I figured I’d report it if nobody else has.
Could this have something to do with how Roku and the audio output through the remote connect?
Not sure how Roku integrates the headphone jack capable remotes, but maybe it’s a “handshake” connection thing?
I know I’ve been able to upgrade my remote to an audio jack capable remote when the original device remote stopped functioning on versions of Roku boxes/sticks, but since my Roku enabled TV remote doesn’t have the audio jack and I’ve never tired to upgrade that remote (makes me want to try it though).
Just a thought.
For this particular issue, the audio is coming from the Roku Android phone app through Bluetooth to my headphones. Like this:
Roku Stick connected to TV > Roku Android phone app > Bluetooth headphones
It’s a pretty neat feature I use when on the treadmill. I have another Roku with a headphone jack, and as far as I’ve seen, it doesn’t experience this issue.
