Hi all I have the same problem.
I was able to fling to plexamp (v.2.) on pi4 from android plexamp for weeks. I would say about a month ago it just stopped showing on available players list in android plexamp. Hardware, pi software and the network stayed the same only plexamp on android got updated.
Now I can only fling using the android plexapp or browser interface to the pi plexamp it shows as an available player on those. So I would assume there has been some update to android plexamp that introduced the behaviour the op and I am affected by?
Oh wowâŠI donât know if I feel better, or worse lol. I loaded up Plexamp on my phone today, and it does show the pi now, but when I try to play music, it is back to saying âCould not switch to Playerâ. Here is the resulting log file in case anyone is interested: Nov 12 15.txt (4.1 KB)
Maybe something is not being initialized properly when you authenticate on the windows side?
I would go back and try a clean install and check for differences. Looks like this *.js file is corrupt.

So, can you give me the exact process that you use to install Plexamp for Windows, and the steps you take to move over the server.json file? Maybe that is where I am goofing up. Here is what I did:
Uninstalled Plexamp
Rebooted laptop
Reinstall Plexamp
Ran Plexamp and logged into Plex.tv after browser launched
Closed Plexamp
Moved server.json from Windows to Pi
Restart Plexamp on laptop and log back into plex.tv
rebooted pi
Do I need to do anything on the pi after I move the server.json file over?
Sorry Iâm not sure since it has been many months since Iâve set up the raspbi from scratch and I never wrote it down. Also coming from linux desktop and not windows.
random: disappointed that plexamp for pi is not getting the 3.x treatment, btw. installing the pi shouldnât be this hard.
Thanks all for the attempt! I ended up just installing the full Plex Player on the pi and just sharing to that. Seems to work the same way. I can cast/fling to it no problem and it plays on my audio system. Let me know if you foresee any problems with that. Thanks again!
Thanks @OttoKerner. My preference would be Plexamp, but it appears to not be as easy as it sounds to install, at least not for me. I donât have any in depth skill at linux/bash so I hope that someone reads this thread and sees what I am doing wrong. I would really like to get Plexamp working. I have a Pi2 and Pi3 and I have tried multiple times with fresh OS installs to no avail.
Got it to work! There is something wrong with the plexamp raspberry service implementation or raspberry. I did a fresh install didnât work but then I restarted the service via cmd and it started to work. On reboot no go but after cmd service restart plexamp on raspberry is castable and stable now I am happyâŠ
Have created a bash-script to do this, once I get some feedback on it, I can post it here! Only thing needed is the information from the server.json or the file itself.
Hi all, still working on getting headless Plexamp to run properly. Been working on some solutions with folks, but still having problems. We believe it may be a Plex Server issue? There seems to be some connectivity issues. Here is what DOES work for me:
Plex is accessible by all my devices on my network, including a Pi4 with Plex loaded
Plex is accessible remotely, off my network
Plexamp plays (and casts) on 2 different Windows machines as well as a few smart phones
My Pi2 (which is what I am trying to get Plexamp to work on) is wired into a switch on my network. I can ping and SSH no problem.
I have done a few fresh Buster / Plexamp installs and here is the latest status log:
pi@plexamp:~/.config/Plexamp $ sudo systemctl status plexamp

Has anyone encountered anything similar, or have any ideas on where I can start troubleshooting?
