[Not Resolved] Why are files stacking under my Home Video/Personal Media library?

I think that since this thread has an accepted answer, we may need to repost it. Can you “unaccept” the answer as the threat creator? We also need a log output. I can do that if it helps.

There is no way for me to unaccept an anser? Can a moderator do this?

Can you guys provide me the XML for one of these that are getting stacked?

This has 45 randoms shows stacked. This is happening over time.

@tmar89 - The problem has to do with “Chicago Fire - S05E04”. Somehow that episode got matched in an odd way and so new episode now get linked to it. Unfortunately this will not be an easy fix. You basically need to find all the files that are merged and then:

  • move them out of your Plex library
  • update the library which will remove the merged information
  • empty the library trash and clean bundles
  • put the files back
  • update the library again

Thing should be fixed this second time around.

Here’s mine. 7 stacked files. Thanks

I ran your steps and that fixed it (for now). My problem is that there’s a new file or two every day, and we use the “recently added” sort field to sort, and doing these steps messes those up.

I’ll see what happens when the next file gets added. Hopefully it’s fixed

I periodically split the media that gets stacked and eventually it all happens again with another random file. It’s not just this file. There is something fundamentally wrong with the personal video scanner that is not being addressed.

Exactly what I see too. It’s not related to just one specific file.

Your XML shows the same issue. We’re investigating how things got this way.

Cool. I did try just moving the files, updating the library, then moving them back and updating again, and that seems to also work. I skipped the empty trash and clean bundles step. I’m curious what I’m missing if I skip that step.

Thanks

Short term bandaid though. There needs to be a real fix.

We agree, but so far we haven’t been able to identify what is causing the initial GUID to have that bank ID. I’ve been trying many things over the long weekend and so far cannot reproduce the problem.

Is there something we can do to get this a an official bug report? Or did you do that already? I have to manually clear it and reload daily. Any other workarounds you can think of that might work better (or be less work :))

I’ve filed it internally, but so far we’re unable to identify why the GUID comes out the way it does. However, if you did the steps I described earlier, it should be fixed and stay fixed. If you are having to constantly do this, somethings not right. Can you provide me the XML for the episode that gets stacked the next time you see it?

He’s mine again with stacked files, but different ones now. I haven’t done anything to my setup other than just adding and removing files. I haven’t done anything to the library. You can compare this one and my previous post with the xml

Your XML still shows the blank GUID issue I mentioned earlier. If you followed the steps I posted above, it should have created a new valid GUID, then it won’t stack like this anymore. Can you PM me your database file? Please don’t add any more media in the meantime. I will check the rest of your database for this GUID issue and fix them, then it shouldn’t happen again. If it does, then new logs after you see it happen may finally provide a clue to why.

Do you want me to PM you mine? It’s still acting up. I’m on 1.3.3.3148 at the moment.

Yes, please.

Just so I’m clear, which file do you want?
