Older Plex client can't login to Plex.tv

Server Version#: 1.9.3 - 1.18.4 running on Mac OS X 10.9.5
Player Version#: 1.4.1469

I have an old Mac mini running as the Plex Server and the Player, connected to the TV and high-end 5.1 system. Until yesterday Player (seems to be the last one running on 10.9.5) was able to connect to the server. Something was changed and now it can not log in (SIGN-IN window) into the plex.tv. Surely this is not just network connectivity, as I can log in via web-app on that computer.
