Only 2.0 Audio with official Plex App at Kodi

Hi, i’m using kodi with the official plex app.
Case 1: Computer with ubuntu 18.04, connected via HDMI to an 5.1 system.
Case 2: vero 4k+ with HDMI to the same system.
In both cases there is 5.1 sound, if i use kodi with local media files. Case 2 works even with passthrough.

The offical plex app for kodi works only with 2.0 audio (case 1&2). I tried all settings, nothing worked.

Fun fact: i tried plexkodiconnect, there is 5.1 sound available (but also no passthrough).

The plex Server is from a friend (remote over Internet). Transcoding is activated (1080p, 12 MBits).

You’re certain you checked the audio settings in KODI (not just in Plex)? Turn on “Expert” options, set your system to 5.1, and enable passthrough for the formats your system can natively decode.

Yes, sure.
I tried this and all other combinations. Only 2.0 Sound with Plex.
In contrast, local files work fine.

Sorry I can’t be of more help! I have a couple Vero 4Ks that direct play everything, but my files are all local.

Could you ask your friend if they could allow you to Direct Play a few files to see if the transcoding is causing the issue?

He is using nvidia shield with no problems.
We tried with and without transcoding with no positiv effect.
