Opinion question on Plex server on Shield TV Pro vs Nighthawk X10 router

I have a Shield TV Pro and just purchased a Nighthawk X10 router since my Linksys one is going out. Question is, which is better to use as the Plex server…the Shield TV Pro or the X10? Still new to Plex so need advise on which to use so I’m not having to switch back and forth. I’m only utilizing Plex within in the home and not remotely outside the house. Uses in the house will include the Shield TV Pro which is in our home theater room and on our kids kindle fire/ipad.
Thanks for any advise/pointers you can give!

Thanks for your input. Any reason why?

The Shield has the stronger CPU and handles transcoding far better.
If you plan on building a rather large library with lots of items in it, you should better have the 500GB Shield, though.

Plus the Shield will get updates more often, because for the Nighthawk all updates must get clearance from Netgear.

Awesome thanks again for your input! I’m probably going to get the Synology DS-1817+ and connect it to the X10 via the 10Gbe SPF+ port.

In most circumstances you won’t be able to leverage this 10GbE connection.
For normal Plex operation it is total overkill.

So you HAVE the Shield Pro, ask for recommendations, are told to use the Shield b(rightfully so) but you decide to go with the router, why?

Not using the X10 router as the Plex Server, I’m using the Shield TV Pro. I only asked to get an opinion on which was the best to use so I’m not having to switch back and forth.

As far as using the Synology DS-1817+ 10gbe SPF+ port, I was going to use that just to transfer my MKV files to the NAS.
