Optimal file type for PLEX

There’s no difference in HD and SD profiles except for the size. You can’t make HD material out of SD material. 720x480 with the proper custom anamorphic settings - which in the New Handbrake is bulletproof.

There is no ‘Advanced Tab’ in the new Handbrake - so you can’t get in too much trouble. ALL the settings are visible in my images for you to mirror. If, for some reason, you have ‘acquired’ some command line instructions - delete them - not needed.

Mirror my settings (making adjustments to the bit rates if necessary).

It doesn’t matter what profile you start with - when you mirror the settings in my images you’ll have the best there is to get - 'cause there is nothing magical about it.

You make 240 second ‘Previews’.
You put them in an Other Videos Library.
You play them on everything in your Plexiverse.
If they don’t work - you must not be mirroring my settings.

The best way to do this is to rip out a raw MKV file from the DVD with MakeMKV.
This lets you see everything in the file so you can keep what you want and discard what you don’t want - the most important being you want to use the text based subs, if included, instead of the VOB subs because VOB subs will transcode on almost everything.

Here’s the most recent:

and even here I have made some slight changes in bit rates.
480p material is using 950Kbps
with a Lapsharp Sharpness Filter ‘Medium’, ‘Film’ tune (unless, of course, I’m doing animations).
As always if the material is interlaced - it’s De-interlaced with Yadif default, no detection.
anything else that’s changed here, won’t matter as it’s insignificant.
