Hardware transcoding works just fine when playing in e.g. the browser, but if I set Plex to optimize a video, it always insists on using libx264 for it – absolutely zero activity on the GPU, ie. no hardware transcoding. Is there any way of forcing Plex to use hardware transcoding for that? What is the point in using software for it and not even offer an option for the user to select which one they wish to use?
Just so there is no confusion: playing a stream with hardware transcoding works perfectly well, it’s just the optimized versions thing that refuses to use hardware.
