Organize movies in order of squeals.

Is there any way to organize my movies so that they show up in order, example, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises or Clash of the Titans, and Wrath of the Titans? An automatic way would be best due to the size of my movie library, but any options will be helpful. Thanks

Hello, I realized after I posted that I misspelled sequels, and I could not find a way to edit it. Please forgive the misspelling.

I liked squeals much better than sequels. When you find out how easy it is, you’ll squeal with delight.

Edit the ‘Sort Title’ field and put something like this in there:
Batman 1989
Batman 1992
and so on…

Thanks for the reply, but that’s not exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for was a way to organize franchises together ex. StarTrek, James Bond, Indiana Jones, but also have different names, ex. The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift…

Now that I think about it, I could always create playlists, but it would be nice to have it organized in the main list. An example would be you could go to F and see all the Fast and Furious movies in order.

the above solution should accomplish that, the sort title is used separate from the title and is not displayed in the browser.

for fast and the furious you could use the following to get the movies in correct order, the title will be displayed
Title (sort title)
The Fast and the Furious (Fast and the Furious 1)
2 Fast 2 Furious (Fast and the Furious 2)
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (Fast and the Furious 3)
Fast & Furious (Fast and the Furious 4)
Fast Five (Fast and the Furious 5)

etc…

you can see in this picture that I’ve done the same with the Chronicles of Riddick movies by “sort titling” them Riddick 1, Riddick 2, and Riddick 3

Yea that’s exactly what I do. My Riddicks are set the very same way, but I also added Pitch Black to start (as you did), then Dark Fury (the animation) before Chronicles - according to Twohy this ‘toon’ was intended to tie Pitch Black to the Chronicles (explained in the Extras - that are in the folder with the 480p version with commentary tracks), but the release dates are screwy. Easily handled with Fury sorted as ‘Riddick 2004 01’ and Chronicles sorted as ‘Riddick 2004 02’.

I just use enough of the title in the Sort Title field to put them all in the right general area then the year lines them up in the right order.

In the rare case of two movies in the same year I just add the month - like those two James Bond jobs in 1964 even though their names alone put them in the correct order - ‘From Russia…’ and ‘Goldfinger’,

I also did the same thing with the Aliens, Aliens and Predators and Prometheus at the end.

Some would say when seeing their proper names listed they’re all out of whack, but to me (and their sort titles) it all makes perfect sense…

Thanks for your replays. I found what you where talking about JuiceWSA, and it works.
I was hoping for a more automatic approach but I can do that for now. Thanks for the info.

Great… another very important step for all of this is to make sure you’re using proper file names and the material can be automatically matched the first time (no fix incorrect match).

Properly named files that match are in no danger of Plex trying to re-match improper names and blowing all your edits out of the water. Yes, it does take some effort on your part to set this up so we sure don’t want anything to cause that hard work to go up in smoke - the idea being… do it once and be done with it.
