This may sound crazy, but I wish there was a way to setup like personal channels. For example, I do not know what to watch. It would be great if I had 10 channels that I could create. Each channel could have certain shows that would play at random. Now, the channels are not all streaming at once or etc. Basically, Plex just starts playing a show from the selected playlist for a channel. When the user switches, the other channel is paused. I would love love this feature. I have so many shows and movies and can never decide what to watch. Indirectly, it's what I still keep tv for. I would love if my movies rotated automatically without my input.
This functionality is available in XBMC through PseudoTV. PseudoTV relies heavily on XBMC's smart playlist functionality and has been requested a few times for Plex. This plugin and smart playlists are the only things I miss from my time using XBMC.

i would love to see a random movies widget similar to last added and on deck... sometimes i spend soo much time trying to decide what to watch that when i'm done it's already to late :-)
There are already several requests that are very similar to this, I don't have the time to look, but yes this would be a great feature.

I havent seen it, but just playing random shows would be great. For example, if I had random sitcoms of family guy, Seinfeld, aqua teen force and etc would be useful. Thanks for the replays. Thought I was alone on this.

This feature while useful is not /exactly/ what I think the OP was asking for... (And what I would like) But it is a step.
Think of it this way, I want to build my own TV channels, from shows. Not have to add individual episodes to a playlist.
-I want to create like a Movie channel, that can just pick a movie at random, and play it.
-I want a cartoon channel that I could add all my cartoon shows to and just randomly play episodes from that group
-I want a TV Drama channel, again I pick the shows that show-up on the channel, but after that it is completely random what plays.
-New Releases Channel, take the recently added section. Anything in the last 30-days that hasn't been watched, randomly play until the hopper is empty.
Plex is great as an On Demand replacement, and if I want to gorge myself on a TV show, I can. But I miss the 'surfing'/'random' aspect of TV. Turn it on, and just watch what was on, while doing other things or just chilling.

Until that happens, we have no ability to scratch our own itch.
When the switch is flipped, we will instantly mobilize on bringing the best of RegularTV and PseudoTV to Plex, and it will be awesome.
And yes; automatic will do all the work.
Yes, I should mention that I believe that playlists are a prerequisite to something like PseudoTV or custom channels. I mean if we have playlists that can be controlled and used by plugins then really people can develop plugins that'll do the rest.
I think this should be to what others requested as part of plex primetime. I would even a yearly fee just for this feature (yes i would). I have so many shows and movies and just miss random playing.
