The same on my NAS.
Iâm having issues with Plex syncing photos/videos⊠Its been like this for years. We need to get the photos/video section figured out especially with Google Photos âgoing awayâ.
Issue is still there. I donât know why they keep ignoring this. Photos Library is unusable like this. No word from an official Plex employee eitherâŠ
I tagged one of the plex employees that posts on the announcement thread⊠I guess weâll see where it goes⊠I need this to work evermore especially with Google Photos removing unlimited storage.
I started using Plex specifically to view photos. So far itâs barely functional. Missing thumbnails, only able to cycle through 5-10 photos before getting a loading spinner, photos showing then quickly hiding again. The server is running on my desktop,
Plex needs to be able to pre-generate previews in the background to make photo viewing quicker. This is especially important for raw file formats.
Just found this topic because I was looking for âHow to speed up opening of photos with Plexâ. It is terribly slow. Iâm connected via LAN cable directly with my NAS and it takes ages to open a single photo (timeline goes relatively quick - but when opening a single photo it takes 5 to 20 seconds before the photo is being displayed). Which makes the function completely useless.
The fact that âThis topic will close 3 months after the last replyâ and that the topic is still open since 2017 shows that it is relevant⊠how come such a great product canât fix this issue?
Seems that posting and laiking on this forum is not the way lead to change.
Letâs start writing to employees and support.
As did arhornfam2 âI tagged one of the plex employeesâ
maybe social media can help?
Vote this up! I would like to get my photos to load faster on Plex. 2 years and its still not solved. what have the developers at Plex been doing?
Impacts me too. I love everything else about Plex. But wish theyâd fix this around Photos. I suspect itâs a pretty easy fix, but itâs getting no attention. I too posted about it separately a couple months back⊠Possible to disable server-side resizing/transcoding of photos?
I have the same problem - Using a NAS Synology DS 218 - photos are absolutely useless on the Plex app - I spent about ÂŁ90 on a lifetime Plex pass and what a complete waste of money. Utterly useless and from the length of this thread, clearly no interest to be resolved by Plex (all they seem to do is add useless TV features, rather than fix the most basic of things like showing a photo!!!)
I cannot believe they would not listen to their customers and resolve such a basic need for everyone.
Voting wont help. Lets try the social media preasure.
Your college professors may have misled you. Computer equipment will not actually respond to social media pressure at this time.
Real world choices:
1> Use more powerful equipment. Plex photo management works better with some hardware than others.
2> Use a different software solution for photos
There are too many photo management choices in the world to count, at every conceivable price point.
Long time user of Plex, but first time using it for photos. Never really cared because of Google Photos, but they are going to start charging for data, June 1, 2021. Hopefully, that will get enough users to care and lead to a fix.
same problem using 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro as the server
Glad I found this thread so I stop searching how to fix it but pissed to learn that this issue does not seem to be prioritized⊠not really usable for me for now
Tomorrow is the 4th birthday of this thread. Considering how Plex cares about their customers this thread will have a long and un-prosper life.
Happy birthday.
Iâm running plex as a server on a new PC and it still crawls.
This topic will close 3 months after the last reply.
Interesting, will it happen because the issue is fixed or because everyone will say âmehâ?
Anyone knows is there an option to ping any person with some bug/feature triage rights?
