I rarely use the Timeline view, but I did this morning, after my curiosity was piqued by another thread. I found the following issue:
As you can see, my photo library timeline goes back to 2003. If I grab the thumb on the scrollbar and quickly drag it down to 2003, or even just to 2016 or so, the image thumbnails never catch up:
The thumbs remain black, and clicking on a black thumbnail does nothing. The image cannot be opened.
I tried the same on my nVidia Shield, and found similar results, though I don’t even get the black thumbnails. I just see the last thumbnail that was successfully loaded, and the date in the center of the screen, indicating where I’ve dragged the timeline bar to:
I’m guessing this is caused by the same problem that prompted this report.
This pretty seriously hampers the functionality of Plex, both for playlists and photo timelines, and not just in the Web player. If you don’t scroll through the entire timeline slowly enough for the thumbnails to load on each page, it won’t work. This is not a reasonable expectation.
