Hi All.
I am wondering if Plex has plans to make Photoshop files (psd) compatible. I know there was a thread about this a few years back. Any timeline on this?
Thanks.

Plex typically doesn’t public post timelines / roadmaps for upcoming features. Sorry.
Thanks Darci.
Is there a list of supported photo formats? I know JPG for sure. And DNG, which I find really interesting since that is a newer file format the say Tif or psd (photoshop) .
What i find very interesting is the DNG files I create in Photoshop appear in Plex WITH the corrections, crop, etc. that I did in that program. I don’t understand how Plex can do that (but happy it does) since there is no other app that can read my DNG files created in PS WITH the changes I made in that program!
Apple’s own Photos app and Affinity Photo both strip out the corrections when a file is opened in either of those two. So how does Plex mange that?

png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, gif, ico, tif, tiff, tga, pcx, dng, nef, cr2, crw, orf, arw, erf, 3fr, dcr, x3f, mef, raf, mrw, pef, sr2, mpo, jps, rw2, jp2, j2k
Thanks MovieFan.
Quite the list.
Curious that tiff is suported, but could never get those to cooperate with PMS. Kept getting “Could not load image”. But now that i think about it, the file size might have been out of range. Converting those to dng worked in any event.
Are these files > 100MB? Plex has a default size limit. You’d have to change that.
I don’t have expectations for Plex to be the end all of all media. I rather have it REALLY be good at video and audio at the moment. For design projects or photo libraries, I’ve lessen the load on Plex and have bought Pixave and Eagle apps. They both work very well in terms of metadata and open the image in any editor I have installed. Eagle is nice to have since I can have a photo or graphic libraries saved on a thumb drive and carry them wherever and it will open on Mac and Win OS’s.
@anon18523487 - Why is .psd file size specifically an issue?
Not just psd. All files. Reading a file >100MB to generate the thumbnails or a converted smaller image can take a while, especially when it comes to photos where you may have 1,000s of them. To prevent this possibly huge delay, there is a limit on what Plex will read. You can increase (or decrease) this at your own risk.
Thanks for the explanation.
The files were over 100MB. I fixed that. If I had to guess, licensing is the issue with Adobe, regarding PSD files??? I’ve still got my money on Plex to continue to make it a fabulous server method for images. That’s all I’ll probably use it for for now.
