Planned updates?

Is there any chance of Channels being added to the Xbox One app?

They have stated that it's coming, but your guess would be as good as mine as to when. It's been nearly 4 months since the last "real" update so hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I'm going to guess mid-late april +/- a month for safety ;)

Thanks J

Here's hoping. :)

lets hope we can get DTS or some audio passthru! and mkv support

Dom did state that MKV support was a work in progress.  Last thread I read about it he said they had done internal testing and found some bugs that needed Microsoft's attention.  So there's no telling if it will be fixed, tested, and implemented when we get a new update.  (It really depends on when we get a update)

DTS will definitely have to be something Microsoft implements and I believe passthrough as well.  The only options I have messed with on the One all seemed to involve the Xbox Decoding the stream and outputting its own stream, but I could be wrong as I stopped after I found the one that worked for me and didn't test them all.

What did you use? i want to get the best sound quality on my xbox one since i just got my new 7.1 system

There are several options each with it's own set of issues. The first thing to understand is that true passthrough isn't an option, since the Xbox wants to be able to mix in it's own audio. You can set it to output bitstream, but this just means the system will re-endode everything into a DD/DTS stream (losing quality in the process) that is sent to the receiver.

You can use PCM output and set it to 2.0/5.1/7.1 and it will be lossless (highest quality), but there are drawbacks as well there:

- The Xbox will output the number of channels you select regardless of media source. That means a stereo or 5.1 track will send emptiness in the extra channels which prevents your 7.1 system from doing any upmixing using ProLogic or similar algorithms.

- If you are outputting 7.1 for playback of a 5.1 source, the Xbox will send the Surround L/R channels to the rear speakers instead of the sides like it should. This is another known bug in the Xbox audio system.

I have stuck with using PHT still instead of the One because of these issues (and the bandwidth limit forcing transcoding).

do you have a small file? I can test? or what settings are you using would like to give this a shot!

So let the bets begin.

I say the update will hit April 18th :D

would suck if they did a april fools joke on us!

2017 of course :-)

On Windows central there is a post about plex windows app becoming free, but there is more there http://www.windowscentral.com/plex-windows-81-now-free-app-purchas-needed-unlock-most-features:

"Fling unlimited photos and videos from your Plex Media Server (available for free at https://plex.tv/downloads) and the Camera Roll on your phone or tablet to other supported Plex apps, such as Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, and Plex Home Theater (coming soon to Xbox One, Playstation, and other apps)."

So a public communication about a Pled update that enables Pled as remote player. Here is hoping and hoping for more content types

Here is an actual Plex source of features they are planning on working on.

nice list but I was hoping for an improvement on seeking forward/backwards/

The list is basically just a list of features to get feature parity across the apps (at least as much as possible).

Of course other fixes and improvements will happen as well, but we won't find out about most of them until they're released.  I think the only one that has been publicly released is the mkv issue that they're trying to get fixed/working.

One of these days (or weeks), I can feel it!

I really do hope so.... I know its in preview but, damn after a few months of using it im about to go back to PHT. its just to buggy with sometimes not loading artwork. not playing videos.. and missing features. we need an update soon.

I know the feeling! PHT has some nice customisation options carried over from XBMC, not to mention features! It’s still necessary to have a PHT box around just in case I think! Hope the next Xbox update will add plenty
