Hi,
I have a lot of TV shows and I’d love to be able to say, pick a random show, then play the next unwatched episode of that show.
This way I’d be able to watch all my shows in order and shows with lots of seasons won’t play any more often than other shows (until the others run out of episodes that is :).
Is that feature available or on the way, seems like it would be easy to do…
I need this too. my wife keeps tons of older stuff in a folder and just hits play or random but random doesn’t seem very random. it plays the same stuff all the time. after months of her using random I could find plenty of shows that had never been watched but yet she was constantly haveing to change the show because she just saw it the day before. having the option to randomly play only unwatched would be awesome.
It would be nice if you could do it with play count as well. at night she puts on cartoons to fall asleep. obviously after months of doing this with the same old stuff they are all showing as watched but we still run into the same “random not being so random” issue. so if it could prioritize by play count that would be sweet!

I agree. This has been the worst thing about Plex so far. Should be able to shuffle only unwatched episodes. Who wants to watch the same content over and over?
You can already accomplish this through the OnDeck option. Click on the “OnDeck” at the home page. Then hit shuffle. Or create a playlist base don this, which will result in a smart playlist that will update itself as you finish watching things and new items are added.
The only caveat is that the show does have to have been watched recently to make it onto the OnDeck list. There is a PMS setting for how long ago this list will search.
