For some content like documentaries and instructional videos I’ve loaded into Plex it would be very handy to slow down complicated content and speed up content where the narrator just talks too darn slow.
Could be implemented like youtube’s speed multiple feature and/or as ‘scrubb’ arrows if one wants to just scrubb through a particularly boring scene.
I too would like this feature added to Plex. Should I add a new post or is commenting on this one enough?
Why I would like it:
I often transfer both youtube and other instructional videos to Plex as it allows me to view the videos on all my devices and gives me a single source to store them.
Another advantage in non programming/technical videos (like History, Literature, etc.) is the ability to project the videos on my TV set while I take notes on my laptop in the comfort of my reclining chair. Beats the hell out of my crowded office where desktop and screen space is at a premium.
However, I would really appreciate a faster speed as many of these teachers tend to blab a lot. Honestly, in some cases I have to put them at 2x (and faster would be nice) so I can still understand what they are saying, but I can fly by the boring or useless parts. Then I can slow down to 1x when I get to the meat of the lecture and take notes. In that case a slower speed (.75x or .5x) would be great too for us slow note takers.
It would be nice if these content providers gave a TL;DR version of their videos with most of the chit chat eliminated. Honestly, I’d be willing to pay a premium for that, but until then having a video player that alloows for granular control would be great.
