Playing DSF files?

I have run into a slight problem that I am unable to figure out.

I am running a plex server on my synology NAS (V. 1.23.4.4805) and I have a few music albums (most of them in .DSF)

Everything has been running smoothly untill recently when it stopped playing some of the albums.

I have tried to play the music from my nvidia shield (2019) and plex app (version 8.20.0.26605) and also from my android phone using the plex app (v. 8.20.0.26605) with no luck.

Playing the same files on my PC with foobar2000 works perfectly, and it also works if I download the files onto my android device, so I know that there is nothing wrong with the files themselfs. Still other albums with the same DSF format works without a problem.

Could someone please help me figure this out?

Same problem here, it started around monday i think
Android TV an Android phone, but Windows plex client still works

No Plex client supports playing DSF files so they should be asking PMS to transcode them. Can you reproduce the problem on an droid device and get me the android log and PMS log? Or if you can PM me a file so I can test it myself.

Sorry about the delay, but i was on vacation
I tried with to android clients, my Sony Android TV and my Plus One Phone (android)
The Windows Client still works fine, the error on the Android is "There was an error playing this element.
I managed to get the Server errorlog(PM)

I Tried casting from my windows table to android tvthat does not work, it looks like a android client issue to me.

It seems to be a Android client issue, i tried to downgrader the client to version
8.19.4.26517
now it seems to be working again

hello? I have the same problem, playing on Nvidia Shield app. did someone find any solution?

I have downgraded my Andriod client to version 8.19.1.26306 that solved the problem
Dont forget to disable update

It’s a Android Client 8.20 issue 8.19 works like at charm

Can you try on the latest version of the app? Please provide the log from the app if it doesn’t work.

Hi, adding log file with last event when i tried to play DSF file and it failed
plex log.txt|attachment (41.4 KB)

Please let me know if it is not enough or something else is needed. And maybe it will be useful to know in my iPhone pex and plexamp apps it plays. Only in shield app it fails.

Ok, your Shield is trying to direct play that file and failing somewhere. Can you PM me a DSF file so I can test?

Hi. I’m having the same issue of not being able to play DSF music files (SACD rip) on both my NVIDIA Shield TV and my Firestick 4K (both Android) after the PLEX Client updates were run. It just flashes up a msg that says an error occurred and then immediately tries to play the next song on the album. I just had a friend test his Firestick out as well…. He’s a PLEX Pass owner…… same issue. DSF files used to play on our Firesticks. I’m pretty sure this issue is not PLEX Media Server related, as my Apple TV 4 still plays DSF (SACD). Are you still looking into the issue? I see the issue was identified in July and the last entry here was 17days ago. Help.

Saw you comment in another thread about this issue. I did file the problem with the team. I’ve bumped the issue.
