Playlists - Remember position for subsequent resume

Its interesting. I thought maybe I would just use a different app for playlists.. I already had Jellyfin installed but hadn’t used it for video (Jellyfin is great for music).. So I created a video playlist.. put it in shuffle, and played a bit.. skipped forward.. everything seemed normal.. but… upon re-entering the playlist.. it resumed on the last video played.. and when it moved forward with the next video in the tv series.. It did not stay in shuffle mode, and it did not recognize the items in the playlist that had already been played. It was simply starting playback from the ‘resume’ category on the home page. I am guessing Plex and Jellyfin started with the same codebase that has the limitation we all are complaining about.

If I can find another app that can deliver the playlist behavior, I will install it alongside plex and just use it for playlist playback. So far I havent found a different product to use.

If anyone knows one to use, please post about it.

I’m sure my vote won’t be the straw that breaks the camels back. It would be nice with all of the universe collections there are now to be able to resume playlist from where you last left off. One of the most annoying universes to watch in proper order is Arrowverse and that spans 5 or 6 tv shows I created the playlist before I realized this feature wasn’t a thing. What’s the point in having the playlist function without this feature?

“resume playlist from where you last left off.” AND remember there is a PLAYLIST being played AND the mode (shuffle verses linear)

Re: “it’s been 82 [sic] years, they’ll never fulfill this feature request…”
FWIW, I was bandwagoning for multiple years on the “please support alternate orders from TVDB thread” and just when we thought that would never come through, they implemented it! (past year or so)
So, mayyyybe one day? If enough squeaky wheels gather in concert? Or if the product managers can be convinced this enhancement can be worked into pimping out more Discover tie-ins that most users don’t want

Hey Devs can we please get this? Its been 11 Years now.

Same, it’s been a decade. I’ve been using Plex even longer than this request and yet this feature is missing. A playlist resume would be a boon for usefulness. I’ve gotten used to the new UI, so lets get new features we ask for?

And not another integration to a 3rd party I mean this one, playlist resume.

It speaks volumes about Plex and the developers that this has been a request for over 10 years and they’ve not even replied once, let alone implemented something that should have always been present.

Just started setting up some playlists and … how is this not a thing already?
