Player Version#: Plex for Smart TVs 3.13.21
My most common desired usage for the Plex app on my TV is to play music videos. Currently this isn’t possible to do in a fluid manner as too many playback features are missing and/or the playback behaviour is not conducive to this type of viewing.
I can’t simply play videos from a sub folder with music videos in, as it stops at the end of every video. It’s useless. Imagine if the music player or your CD player did this and you had to manually select the next track every time!
There is a random all videos option which does feature continuous playback (although for some reason, only available in list view), but if I use this my home videos and random video clips keep popping up in between music videos and I have to keep skipping them.
I can’t random videos from within a sub-folder containing my music videos, as somebody forgot to add this button to the TV app. This is possible on the browser app but hasn’t been made available in the TV App.
Adding continuous video playback and random video playback within a folder would be perfect solutions to this issue and I can’t see that either would be detrimental to other types of viewing. If we are worried about people falling asleep with a TV series on, there’s nothing stopping them going back and selecting the same episodes for repeat viewing. If it’s really that much of a worry, make it an optional playback feature.
