Please bring Skip Intro to Chromecast - hundreds of millions devices out there

The graphic is worldwide over 5 past years, google trends does a little average box for you to see the summary, and not to pin to a point of time like you did.

The only factoid you had was sales data up to 2017. The graphic is for past 5 years, which is pre and post 2017. It shows that while popularity declined, it didn’t get niche, nor disappear. If you roughly correlate popularity to sales numbers during the period you mention, and keep trending, the total units sold are most definitely over 100m.

Again, the arbiter here is Plex, they know how many viewers use Chromecast.

The average does not matter as that has no impact on the CURRENT relevance of a product. As a matter of fact, current relevance is infinitely more important to a company that would be developing a feature currently. See how that works?

Yes, I provided actual confirmable data from the company that sells and markets the thing. Unlike anything that you have provided up to this point.

Your graph shows nothing but general interest. This actually helps to confirm some of what I said earlier if YOU want to try to somehow correlate it to potentially sold product, which is not how anyone would actually do that. General interest in the Chromecast according to your graph begins to decline around 2017 which was the moment that Google themselves confirmed that sales had been dropping the past couple years, and stopped reporting that sales data as far as I can find. Note that they themselves said the previous couple years had sales of around 5 million units each of the previous 2 years, when previous to that the numbers were in the 10’s of millions per year. If we look at that the assumption could be fairly made that sales continued to drop and most definitely didn’t result in product sales of over 100 million. Furthermore like I said earlier a good number of those are probably out of commission now (likely 25-50%) meaning that the actual install base of Chromecasts well below anything close to what you suggest. The likely install base is probably in the low 10’s of millions. This data would also include things that are “Chromecast built-in” like the Nvidia Shield, tons of A/V receivers, TVs, etc. So the cast-only Chromecast market is very likely to be absolutely tiny. And of that, the number of those cast-only Chromecasts being used for Plex is probably a fraction of them.

You are absolutely 1000% correct here. Plex knows exactly how many users there are which is why even though Skip Intro has been around for nearly 2 years they have put it on basically every platform except cast only Chromecasts and other niche products that aren’t worth the development time.

In the future, I would maybe try to just make the request and not back it up with BS that you pulled from your rear end to attempt to make it sound more important than it really is. Hundreds of millions is BS and everyone knows it including you, but you continue to argue it because you can’t admit you are wrong.
