OMG I cannot believe that keywords are not included. It was big surprise for me.
Ive been tagging pictures in windows since 2001
I just upgraded PMS to version 1.11.3.4803 and a curios “tags” tab now shows up in the edit pane for a photo. Looks like I can add tags by hand, but sadly no import of existing EXIF tags. Has anyone messed with scripting enough to try doing an EXIF-to-Tags import?
Please implement the ‘Use embedded tags’ feature in Photo libraries. I have been tagging my photos manually and he tags are embedded in the photos. Just need Plex to read them.
“Use embedded tags” is the last thing I’m holding out for. Once that’s implemented, I’m moving my photos to plex!
I’d really like this option too. Is it on any roadmap for development yet?
Yes please, the use of embedded tags would be great !
Pleeeeaassseeee implement this XMP extractor - Faces and places are embedded in roughly half of my 140k photos. This would be a game changer! So please take Photos off the back burner and extract XMP data. (Lightroom)
One use case I cat wait to see is to search by names of people like “Grandpa Golden Gate Bridge”
Thank you for the great work so far - PMS is a phantastic system!
Yesssss. Lightroom plug in. Plleeeeaaassseee!
Absolutely necessary. Import tags from lightroom exif and iptc

Comments aren’t votes!
Yes, please add this feature! I really want to use the photo section in Plex, but at the moment it’s utterly useless to me, since all my tags are stored in the photos themselves.
I see tons of comments on this greatly needed feature but sadly only 9 votes. Make sure that if you want this feature you leave more than a comment, because comments will not make it happen. You also need to vote at the top of the thread.
I would also love to see & search for my tags which are embedded to my photos
Just another person with 10,000’s of photos and years of work keywording them. I’ve been a Plexpass user for several years, but there is no point in even thinking about pointing plex at my photos unless it uses the keywords and captions I’ve already created. 73 replies to this thread but only 16 votes. Everyone PLEASE VOTE.
Please add this feature to support metadata stored in the picture.
AutoTagging is nice to have but I want to use my own tags in my prefered language which are stored in the photo. Storing and using metadata is the usefull approach as long as you want to do the tagging once.
Don’t forget to vote.
To be honest: I don’t think that the development team will take care of this. As long as metadata is only keept in internal xml-files and the photos metadata is completly ignored it seems to me that the development team will bind the user to Plex.
I want to have the freedom to use the media server I want to use without tagging fotos twice. Right now I’m on a montly subscription to take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of Plex. And this disadvantage turns out to be a show-stopper of paying for a lifetime-subscription.
I run Plex on a Synology DS218+. I really do not like Synology’s PhotoStation because of its old fashioned interface but PhotoStation uses the metadata of the photo and saves added metadata on the original photo. And this is exactly what I expect from a media server for which I have to pay for.
To make this clear: Sharing photo’s on the internal network on devices like SmartTV, tablet and mobile is the main reason why I decided to use Plex. In 2018 I really do not need a media server for watching movies or listening to music. With Amazon Prime, Netflix and Spotify there is no need to waste storage for movies and music.
So right now I pay for a auto-tagging-function for fotos because Plex do not use the tags on the photo. Sounds some kind of stupid.
Any news on here? Post started 2016!!!
We NEED tags stored in our Photos to be imported to PLEX…PLEASE implement this feature, it could not be that difficult
