The problem is I have a browser running anyway so it would actually be more resources used as I’d have to run BOTH a browser and Plex HTPC.

I love Plexamp. It’s what I was using to connect to the web player on the PC actually.
That is odd - hopefully they see this and add it back, we use this every time we watch TV shows.

I wondered why this feature had stopped working a while back. Very unintuitive that it was removed in certain players and not others, especially with leaving the connect to device button around. Honestly thought I’d just broken my setup somewhere until I started really digging into it.
Disappointing to see this feature go, it was very useful to be able to control playback on my PC using my phone or laptop. I can’t really understand why it would be removed.

Why why why!? Bring it back. I don’t mean to be rude but ARE YOU INSANE? You took away much of the functionality and enjoyment when you took ADVERTISE AS PLAY from the web version. GIve it back, please!

Just bumping this again - any chance of fixing the API? With the new Credit Detection this could potentially let us to skip both intros and credits automatically.

This is a useful feature for skipping ads not tagged by Plex’s tuner manager, i.e. PlayOn, etc. As said before, Plex HTPC is inconvenient at best. For those with only web browsers, Advertise as Player is a must have for advanced functionality.

The HTPC version is not a replacement for the Plex desktop app.

What maintenance costs? It isn’t like the API needs oil changes, and we are the users that pay for the continued development not the continued axing of existing and useful functions.
It is almost like you want your users to move on to Jellyfin or other useful products with developers that actually listen to the vocal minority and don’t dismiss them with “maintenance costs”.
I have friends that wondered why I pay for Plexpass, I am beginning to wonder that myself.
Bringing back the api calls should be simple. And pushing people to your “app” is to dismiss those of use that use the web based player, but I assume that will be axed too, in favor of your inferior app.

This thread is neither about the Plex app for iOS, nor about the Plex app for Android (which runs on FireTV devices). Nothing has changed on these apps.
