Please Use Clean Human Readable URLs (Permalinks)

Hi,

Any chance of using clean URLs (Permalinks) please?

For example when I click on a Movies folder I get:

http://*ip*:*port*/web/index.html#!/servers/*randomNumbers*/sections/1

Clicking on a particular movie is even worse:

http://*ip*:*port*/web/index.html#!/servers/*randomNumbers*/sections/1/details/8

Should would be nice if it used clean URLs, something like:

Change current home page from:

http://*ip*:*port*/web/index.html#!/dashboard

To:

http://*ip*:*port*/library/

Other clean URL examples:

http://*ip*:*port*/library/movies/
http://*ip*:*port*/library/movies/avatar
http://*ip*:*port*/library/movies/avatar/edit
http://*ip*:*port*/settings
http://*ip*:*port*/activity
http://*ip*:*port*/share

Even worse is TV shows.

For example if I open the page for Blue Bloods Season 2, Episode 4 I get taken to:

http://*ip*:*port*/web/index.html#!/servers/*randomNumbers*/sections/4/details/2669

Yuck!

This is a lot nicer:

http://*ip*:*port*/library/tvshows/blue.bloods/season2/episode4/

Perhaps even include the year, genre, etc. as part of the permalink.

Would be best to allow the user to set the URL structure.

I like my human-readable links. I'm sure I am not alone.

Thanks,

Will

6 people so far, and you counting twice  ;)

But regardless, I fail to see the purpose of this request?

More changes to make debugging and troubleshooting more difficult !

It should not matter what internal url Plex is using - you are not expected to remember that  anyway. You are given easy shortcuts to enter the plex world via

local-ip:32400/web

or plex.tv/web

And to top it, this thread is sadly in the wrong forum as well.....

Should have been posted either here:

https://forums.plex.tv/forum/83-general-chat/

or here:

This forum is for 3.Party developers!

Mod please move to right area. My fault!

Anyways, just makes bookmarks cleaner. And when 3rd party apps use clean URLs it's much easier to recognize what is what.

Most server type applications support clean URLs. So really should not be a big deal.

Either way it seems like it's not going to happen, so I wont waste my breath explaining in detail. It's really simple, google it. Like I said, lots of apps support it.

You are absolutely right here... We have been waiting for far more important changes for a very long time.....

.. but you never know....
