Hiya all!
I’m a long time Plex user (on and off) and for some time now I have been using it consistently as my main media player both in my home on my Android devices, my iPhone and also my Smart TV’s. I even made the jump to Plex Pass I like it so much. However I keep falling back to Kodi because of issues with my subtitles. Most often than not, the wrong subtitles get pulled and I have to search for an alternate / better version or simply offset from time to time as the subs gradually get out of sync. This is something I can’t do on Plex. for the most part I can live with jumping between softwares, but until Plex implements better subtitle selection and control, it looks like this is something I’ll be doing frequently.
This brings me to the water in the wine bit. All this jumping back and forth means I have no synced watch status or current watch point, no synced libraries, Kodi shows episodes in the library I have already deleted over in Plex… Arrrrggggg!!!
Question: is there any way to SYNC the two? Use Plex as main engine and DB maintainer but have Kodi pull / push updates in case I watch something there and delete something in Kodi?
The answer is “PlexKodiConnect.” It puts your Plex content in Kodi and allows Kodi complete control.

But will it also allow me to use Kodi’s subtitle management and addons?

‘Changing the offset’ you can do in OpenPHT (it is Kodi after all)
and in PMP as well if you map this function to a button on your remote (it is by default available on a keyboard)

I don’t know. I do not use any of those features and I only rarely use Android devices for Plex. Rokus are better for me.
You can but give it a try, It costs nothing bu a little time. My reading of the documentation says that PlexKodiConnect puts Plex’s content in Kodi with Kodi’s full features. Again you can try it to see.

Yes.
That said, you could also just keep your current setup and use the trakt plugin to keep your watched status synced between both platforms (and emby, and VLC, and…)
Trakt.tv

Trakt.tv
Sounds promising. But will this only sync watched status or will it also sync my current watch point? Meaning, if I’m at minute 26 of 42, will it resume at that point in other platforms / players?

Thanks for bringing OpenPHT to my attention. Didn’t know it.

Yes that’s exactly what it does. Only for 1 user, though, not your whole Plex Home, unfortunately.

Thanks. I installed trakt in KODI from the Repository and installed trakt chan in Plex using webtools and unsupported tools. Both are set up but I can’t get them to sync up the watched status let alone the point I’m at. I have activated the necessary parameters in both I think. i don’t know if there is something I am missing.
Any tips or help appreciated.

Been a while since I set it up it… Obvious answer is: did you sign in the plugin with the trakt.tv website (and create an account)? Did you check in the settings? I think you have to specify which user of your Plex home you want synced.
There’s also a button for a manual sync if you dive in the plugin from the Plex Web interface.

I had to go to trakt.tv/activate for both the Plex and Kodi plugins / addons to work. Same user account. I ran the manual sync in Plex via the chan. In KODI I used the RUN button in the addon options. Sounds like I got most of it right. I’ll have to dive in deeper and see if both KODI and PLEX are updating trakt. Maybe one of them isn’t doing what it should. Thanks for the tips.

If you can’t get it working, I suggest contacting their tech support. Shouldn’t be hard, was straight forward for me. Maybe their service is down right now… Good luck!
Been months since this thread started. Tried and failed at a lot of attempts. Couldn’t get Trakt to sync properly from Kodi so I gave up and ended up sticking with PlexKodiConnect. Lesser of two evils I guess, but not without it’s flaws. Media stutters quite badly from time to time, others just plain refuses to play / stream and also have a huge delay after selecting the item to start playback (up to a minute wait time).
