Plex App recently started playing in indirect mode

I’m running my Plex server on a TrueNas.scale implementation running the latest version available to truenas. In the last couple of weeks I noticed my Ipad plex app would only play in indirect mode. Now my android phone app is doing the same and my fire tv app. The only device that’s not doing it thankfully is the plex app on the Xbox series x.
The setup hasn’t changed since I set it up on the NAS a year ago, but this only started happening recently.
