Excuse the complete Noob question, but where can the older versions be found? When I check my Package Center, it shows 1.18.5.2309 as the latest. I’m running a Synology 220j, DSM 6.2. I know how to download the latest versions of Plex directly and do a manual install, but where do I find the older versions to download? Thanks in advance!
@ChuckPa
I’m currently running Plex Media Server 1.31.2.6810-6000. I download the packages directly from the Plex.tv site. I am experiencing the intermitent shutdown problems, too.
When it next shuts down, Prior to restarting it,
-
Open FileStation
-
Navigate to Plex/Library/Application Support/ Plex Media Server
-
Right-Click “Logs” → “Compress to Logs.zip”
-
When that’s complete, download it and attach here.
-
Now restart plex
I was able to revert to the previous version, and it seems somewhat better. But Plex still stops every couple of days. It just stopped about 30 minutes ago. I was able to connect to the NAS and click Run to get it going again. What’s the best way to troubleshoot this?
ok, so tried this with version 1.32.0.6918
same issue, server (not plex) crashes.
@ChuckPa happy to provide logs, but i don’t think the method described via filestation would work? another challenge is that on reboot plex will auto start, would that run the risk of over-writing the old logs or (hopefully) it’s an append?
(my bad, found the folder, my user didn’t have access)
ok, got the logs, seem to be various versions etc, (hope the detail is preserved to provide the clues etc)
@ChuckPa can you guide on how i share these with you privately please? (though content isn’t massivly sensitive i’d rather it not be wide open) thanks.
Check your PM.
I’m still having pretty regular trouble with this. Plex seems to stop every 2-3 days. Sometimes I just have to restart it, but sometimes I have to reboot the NAS to get Plex to restart. I applied the recent update to DSM 7 last week, then uninstalled/reinstalled Plex, but Plex still stops every 2-3 days. Any ideas?
I ran into a case about a month ago.
We went around in circles but couldn’t find the problem.
Finally, with nothing else to try, the blobs database was deleted and recreated.
PMS stopped crashing.
I can try that. What do I need to do?
I was able to figure out how to remove the blobs database. That didn’t seem to help with anything though — I was still getting daily or every-other-day crashes. I ended up switching over to running Plex in Docker. It’s still on the Synology NAS, and it’s pointed at my existing library of shows. Best of all - no crashes since switching about 2 weeks ago.
