Plex continues to play music even after being closed

I brought this up once before and this is getting very annoying to say the least. Plex should have an exit option when you back out of the app and stop playing music and/or videos.

I also noticed today that all the option buttons on the bottom completely disappeared after going to the tile screen and then back into Plex, and no it was not hiding under the three Windows Phone buttons (Back, Start, and Search). It took a complete reboot to get them to return.

More of a feature than an issue, but I noticed that my status bar (LTE, WiFi, Alert, etc…) son the top is not visible when I am using Plex. Is there way to stop Plex from consuming the entire screen?

@NVader2000 can you provide repro steps for the missing option buttons (e.g. which page the app was displaying, and logs if possible) when that happens again?

Regarding an exit option, I’d like to understand why pausing the music on the app or from the system media controls (available when clicking on the hardware volume control) isn’t enough before considering anything like that.

On the status bar, that seems to be standard behavior - the weather app, the news app, etc. If there is enough user demand, we can certainly consider looking into changing that behavior for the Plex app.

I am not able to reproduce, so maybe the latest build or reinstalling the app resolved this issue.

In regards to the stopping music when exiting this feature would be ideal because I find my self in different parts of the app when navigating. Sometimes it is more difficult to navigate back the song in play to stop when it is easier to either back arrow out of the app or close it via task manager.

When I decide to back out of the app or wish to close the app (task manager) there should a dialog that pops up asking if really want to exit. There are several apps that I own that do this which is nice because then I do not have this app running in the background and I do not need to use task manager to close completely.

Is there a particular reason you’d like to fully stop playback instead of pausing? It will essentially do the same thing. So from any screen you can just hit volume and use the OS controls to pause.

From a navigation perspective it would be more intuitive. Reaching to the top of the screen to swipe down mean more travel. Sometimes one finger is only available and thus the back arrow would be the easiest to stop and exit.

I also find that even if I end task the app music still plays which mean I must back into Plex or swipe down to stop. If Plex is stopped (exited) then music should stop as well.

Both of these scenarios take 3 interactions, except the bottom one will always be three no matter what screen you are in.

Music Section (back) Home (back) Prompt (reach up and click exit)

Music Section (hit physical volume button) OS controls (hit pause) (hit Windows button)

Again, this may not be intuitive all the time and does not solve the problem of music still play after completely exiting Plex in some cases. I mean what is still playing the music even though Plex was the original initiator and now is completely closed. If Plex is not running, how ever that becomes, nor should music

There should be an option to exit Plex from any screen and would stop playing music when done so. So there is one request and one issue.

Request:

Provide exit option from any screen in Plex and prompt to exit and automatically stop music, video, movie, etc…

Issue:

Music continues to play if Plex was the original initiator and now is completely closed.

Yes this is ANNOYING. I back out of plex and then hit the play button in youtube or another application and music in plex starts playing. Firetv is the device. Can’t stop it. JUST PUT AN EXIT BUTTON ON THE APP WILL YOU.
