Plex crashes when trying to run new version

naw, i didn’t even consider that as an option

What about the other database file? (The one with blob in the name)

it looks like the old blob file is 562,100 and the most current one is 569,076

Are you running any other software on this machine, like Torrent clients, ftp servers?
Any 3rd-party anti-virus software or firewalls?
Are you using a Microsoft user account, or are you using a domain account with roaming user profiles?

i’m running some other things yes:

OBS, Qbittorrent, and a suite of arrs. I was also playing with docker, but thats been shut down since i can’t figure out why this system won’t work with an open port.

Try running Plex completely solo for a while. See if the issues improve.

so heres where i’m at after getting your last suggestion:

  1. i turned everything on there off until about an hour ago, when i started trying it on different devices. no change on the roku, but i did notice i made a mistake: when i checked to see if i could see the library on my phone when it was connected vs disconnected, i only was looking at the “recommended” tab. looking directly at the library no matter what i’m connected to shows that the server is disconnected.

  2. this evening i tried installing the latest version of PMS on my other computer, and with a clean install (just like on the server) it works fine. when i tried to transfer my database into this install i got this message:

when i downgraded to 1.3x it acted the same way - i can see everything fine on my system, but can’t see anything on my roku or phone.

during all this i was deleting the app from my phone to try to make sure i was getting good information through this.

  1. i turned on the wifi on my xFinity modem, and tried connecting with that. same deal.

  2. then i had a brainwave, and took out my laptop. connected to the network that the server is on, works fine. connected to the xfinity wifi (which is a functionally a different wifi network) works completely fine. then i connected the laptop to my phone acting as a hotspot, so it would be running on cell data… completely fine. which is odd.

i’m now thinking that the issue with reading the library on the old version is that the other devices aren’t windows machines. either through the app or through the web app. the library is still intact (at least for 1.3) but only the devices running windows can read it fully. this is the only thing that makes sense because multiple users have been asking about this, and they all use apple TVs, rokus, or phones.

the only other test i can think of is asking my friend with a macbook to sign in through the web app to see if it works for them, but i doubt it will?

This is bizarre. I have never heard of such a behavior. Honestly, I am out of ideas at this point.

do you have any suggestions about what to do about upgrading?

Apart from starting over with a clean database, I have unfortunately none.

either way thank you for all your help. i do really appreciate you taking the time.
