Plex for Linux

Hi, I have been using plex for Windows. It is working great as usual. I kept the plex data folder in my HDD instead of SSD as the folder size is growing rapidly. I also use Linux. I wanna know how to change the default data folder location so I can use my plex metadata (of windows) on Linux. I have googled it, looked on some forums but it seems a little bit complex to me to configure plex data config file, bash file and some other files. Is there any easier method? Or can anyone sort out the whole instruction and type it in points so it will be easier for me? I am using PopOS now (ubuntu based) and also use endeavourOS and manjaro (arch) sometimes.

And, Suggest me some great or most popular plex addons I can use for Movies, TV series, Personal Videos and Photos.

Also, is it better to use Linux as a system for plex or I can just keep using windows? Have you guys noticed any performance/usability difference between these two OS? Please share without being biased.

i have always used Linux for my plex server… i’ve had friends switch over to windows saying certain things were MUCH more easier and less frustrating (sonarr, radarr, w/ vpn).

RANDOMLY i’ll have issues few times a year, and it takes me a weekend to fix. I hate it but i like it because it keeps my linux skills sharp. i’m a windows user day to day. but the saying goes, whatever your comfortable with is what’s best for you.

I personally like linux for things like this because when something is broken, i don’t need for a "fix’ of sorts… sometimes the community comes together and figures it out, and i can change the code myself in the files. but sometimes it does get frustrating not knowing the code or how to work with it. it’s a give and take.

Keep in mind that windows and Linux use different paths, ie / vs \
