Version 1.3.0 has been released for Plex for Windows and Plex for Mac.

This release continues to improve behavior of the Downloads feature. It also improves our handling of caching during playback and rendering of the UI. Gone is the dreaded black screen on macOS from 1.0 and the poor mouse cursor behavior that landed with 1.2.

Following the directions below will score you the update immediately . Otherwise, the update will be downloaded and installed automatically through typical app usage.

  • Downloads: When playing local media but online, immediately sync play progress to server.
  • Downloads: Fixed crash when download destination doesn’t exist.
  • Downloads: Fixed external subtitles being missing in downloads.
  • Downloads: Fixed attempting to use illegal characters from an album name in a directory name.
  • General: Handle the individual play and pause keys (not play/pause toggles) found on some input devices.
  • General: Fix mouse cursor not showing hover or text input cursors.
  • Player: Improved caching, seeking, and resuming behavior.
  • Mac: automatic updates retain code signing.
  • Mac: enable OpenGL 4.1 to prevent black screen issues on some systems.
  • Windows: detect and enable OpenGL ES version 3 or version 2.
