Did you have any lunk compiling for ARM? (I’m interested to install it on a raspberry pi)
plex-home-theater seems to have been removed from Archlinux official repositories : https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/plex-home-theater/
Does anyobody knows the reason please ?
I had contacted the maintainer prior to this being removed and I believe it was intentional. You can still easily find the build files at
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/plex-home-theater
and just issue a makepkg -sri as an unprivileged user to build and install PHT. You can even replace the source URL and version with the OpenPHT releases from
and have it successfully update beyond version 1.50
It is up to us to continue these packages on AUR. I am currently contemplating maintaining things in AUR but I don’t have the same time and expertise available that the original maintainer had.
As to proper Arch support, the right thing to do would be to maintain OpenPHT (not deprecated) and PMP from AUR (PMP can be put there once QT 5.6 is out in about 40 days). These packages could then follow the process of proper promotion to the community repository (though this is not necessary and the plex media server works really well without official support). In the end, the maintainer is no longer maintaining the package and I can understand this. Team Plex has been ignoring even very simple and trivial pull requests to the Plex Home Theater repository for the longest time and it is only a matter of time until the deprecated PHT breaks on systems like Arch (unlike OpenPHT).
Thats really really crappy!
In the latest update libboost library got updated to 1.60 and Plex was build with 1.59 so won’t restart.
My plex client always build with the RPM like media server not from source as in the above build file?
Crap I’m now without a working version
update: mmm actually fixed it with a dirty fix. symlinked the libboost 1.60 to 1.59 and now works
hope a package comes back soon, maybe like the couchpotato team did (build it from git, you never have to update the pkg files :))
hello guys i’ve installed plex media player and plex media server from AUR here in my Arch Linux, if i play something from my server runs great but when i use media player, i see o pink screen, the audio plays great but video don’t, i try to install gstreamer and some others codecs but nothing happens, anybody can help me with this tks…
is it possible to get it installed on Arch?
I installed Arch yesterday, and I can’t get it installed, from the Arch side they told me that the openpht packages are old, unmaintained, that some of the dependencies were updated are they are no longer compatible with the version that pht uses
